My Case for Cavani Returning to Napoli

Remember Cavani? Nope, not the guy who is obsessed with aiming for the keeper when on a one-on-one. Let's rewind back to 2010, to a dude who was actually good and was a really effective supporting striker, playing an important role in Uruguay's journey to the semi-final. What about the man who almost single-handedly helped Napoli capture glory once Lavezzi had departed, carrying the team on his shoulders?

No? Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if you've forgotten about that guy. The man we know now is a brick, is useless and is more a liability than a man who can score or create. Occassionally he will do something great for PSG, but doing that once every one hundred years is not really a great return for the amount of money spent on him.

Napoli are a club who are reeling. Higuain has officially been labelled a traitor and glory-hunter and I fear for his safety if he plays when Juventus have to play his old club at their cribb. You thought the Figo scenario was bad, this could potentially be the worst we've ever seen. Don't be surprised if you see chopped up testicles and intestines thrown at him when he comes near the hardcore fans.

But they need a replacement. In order to compete with the black and white striped behemoth, they need another goalscorer. Milik is not the man, as he needs to get over his addiction to missing. So in a market where it's difficult for a small team to lure good players, Napoli have to be more imaginative in getting their man.

The Return of Edinson Cavani!

My Uruguayan's time at PSG has not been a success. The fans haven't taken to him, and he hasn't made the kind of impact that had been expected of such a talented all-round attacker at Napoli. That is why, just like Mario G returning to Dortmund, Cavani must do the same and go back to where last he was actually good.

People have forgotten that Cavani was once a very, very effective attacker. At Napoli, he would pop up on the wing to put in a cross, hold the ball to bring in players, make that run into the box to finish or beat two players and fire it into the top corner. There were so many ways he could hurt you, and he did this without Sarri who may be the right man to lead Napoli from the bench.

I think it can work. You have Insigne, Mertens, Callejon who can all form a really good attack with Cavani who has way more to his attacking game than Higuain. At their best, I am picking Cavani over Gonzalo, despite what he did last season for Napoli. Higuain is just a goalscorer who needs to be in a specific system to get the best out of him. Cavani can fit into any kind of team, but just needs the right manager, which Blanc is not.

And the trick is, they have a really good chance of being successful because of Cavani's history with them. HH
