De Boer is a Good Coach for Inter, but Mancini Loss is BAD Timing

Not good for Inter Milan. Not good.

Just before the start of the season, when they are supposed to be focusing on the opening game, and trying to build on the solid foundation they built from last season; the man behind all that has been given his marching orders and it's now back to the drawing board.

De Boer is a good up and coming coach, and Inter fans should be excited by this. He's from that Dutch way of thinking and playing football, having been a part of the excellent Oranje team of the late nineties. So you can expect him to bring the kind of football knowledge that Rijkaard, Van Gaal and Hiddink have shown which has brought success.

What is there is it's going to be very different on the training ground and in the locker room. That's why the timing of this isn't great.

It's too early to say whether De Boer is a better manager than Mancini, but he's less experienced and him taking over Inter Milan in the Serie A is a hundred steps up from coaching Ajax.

I have my doubts about this because of how well Inter Milan started last season. After the first six or so games, they were at the top and looking consistent with a strong identity; hallmarks of title winners. They tailed off, but you could still see a path to Scudetto success based on how they began the season. It was only a matter of getting the right players, and going again with the same pragmatic approach they had last year.

With Mancini gone and De Boer bringing in a more total football, progressive passing game, then we're back to not really knowing how well Inter will do, which was the same story before Mancini took charge of his first game back.

Will De Boer's philosophy work in the Serie A which is very different from the Eredivisie?

There are still really good players here and maybe De Boer can bring the excitment and attack to Inter and can find success in the way that Napoli did last season. But he can be excused for having a slow start in the first few games because this was not the right time to get a new coach. Could have been worse and right in the middle of the season, but still doesn't make this ideal for preparations.

As for De Boer, it's a huge step for him. This is an incredible opportunity for him to see what he can do with a huge club, and see how well he can play a part in dethroning the might of Juventus. This was a move that De Boer had to make sooner or later, with his name constantly being touted amongst clubs looking for new coaches. He's landed in the big boy's house now, and he needs to perform and bring the big times back to Inter and prove he is next in line as one of the world's best managers. HH
