Higuain Must Stay at Napoli. Moving Is a Bad Call
It's the same old story again for Higuain. Well...similar.
An amazing record-breaking season for Higuain, where he almost single-handedly emulated Maradona and brought the scudetto back to Naples, but was then slightly overshadowed by another great opportunity spurned in the Copa America Final.
Yeah, he was the same dude that sent his penalty flying in last year's final against the same team.
Now a decision has to be made, because you can be sure there are clubs out there looking for strikers who are like goldust these days, and will have Gonzalo high on their lists based off his incredible goal-infested season. Napoli will be tempted by the cash, Higuain may be swayed by the chance of having a second-chance being the main striker of a big club and this could be very good news for Juventus, Roma and Inter Milan.
Here's my very direct and simple advice for Higuain: DO NOT LEAVE NAPOLI, HOWEVER MUCH THEY OFFER YOU.
Hope that's loud and clear, because Higuain would be very stupid if he left this good thing. He's got to be realistic and realise that he's not that great a player and isn't a world class striker. Having one amazing season does not mean you can now be mentioned in the same class as Benzema, Lewandowski and the Cannibal Suarez. No sir.
He's got to stay with a team and a system that is built for him to flourish and keep on getting better with the intention of doing well in the Champions League and finally bringing the cup back to the Naples city. That's got to be his overall goal in life, apart from obviously trying to survive and all that good stuff.
Napoli will be fearful, but they'd be hoping most of the clubs watched his miss in the Copa America final and would want to rather spend their money on a consistent and proven striker over seasons rather than risk splashing the cash on the Argentine, only to see that one season with Napoli was a once-in-a-lifetime rarity.
Sometimes players think they are more than they are and leave where things are perfect for them, only to realise how stupid they were to depart when they flop in their new club. You just need to ask Kagawa, who was such a great player for Dortmund, moved to United, flopped, headed back to Dortmund and has never been the same player again.
Higuain can be a very lethal striker as he proved last season. An amazing eye-for-goal, with that striker's instinct that you're born with and can't be taught. It's just simply that in order for him to be effective, he's got to be in the right environment. He's not the kind of player that we'll be able to bang in those G's in any club that he lays his head. Some players are like that, some aren't.
Gonzalo, stay with Napoli, become a folk hero there and try and be the second Argentine to bring them glory. HH
