Do Roma and Napoli Have What it takes to Catch Juventus?

I was the last person to think that Juventus would fall to Fiorentina.

Even if they were playing away from home; it was against Fiorentina who can be very good but also very hopeless. Well, Juventus eventually lost the game despite having great chances to draw level and have perhaps given the rest of the league hope.

But can mighty Juve be dethroned?

The most likely candidates are either Roma or Napoli. Two teams who I have issues with and can't really see lasting the distance, or entrusting in winning those key games to win the title.

Roma are on a good run now, and Spaletti is doing a fantastic job coaching a team who are void of any real talents.

The days of a younger Totti, Batistuta, Cafu and so forth are long gone.

And when you have a dude called Dzeko as a striker, getting wins of any sort earns you extra brownie points.

Then there is Napoli, who just commemmorated their maiden league triumph back in 1987, with the help of their maestro Maradona.

Well, they have no player in the same universe as the great Argentine and Sarri has moved on from the loss of Higuain.

Players like Mertens have really stepped up and showed they can add that magic needed for the consistency of wins.

But this is Juventus. A club who are well run and have dealt with the huge losses of Pirlo, Tevez and Vidal that season and seem to be coping without Pogba. Betting against them isn't smart, and even in that loss to Fiorentina; Higuain and Dybala really should have taken their excellent chances.

For either Roma or Napoli to convince me they can topple Juventus, they need to keep up the momentum and rack up the wins. That's what this game is about. It's getting into that mindspace of always walking off the pitch as winners. That means sometimes having to win ugly, getting scrappy goals, timewasting.

Whatever it takes to collect three points.

Then it's about their games against Juventus. Both Roma and Napoli lost when they played Juve in the first half of the season and that is always a huge psychological blow. It's not imperative to beat your title rivals in order to win a league, because at the end of the day it's about mathematics. Like the season where Arsenal beat Manchester United twice, but United ended up winning the league.

In this case though, it matters that both Roma and Napoli can beat Juventus as that could be the difference between winning or losing the title. If they can achieve that whilst being consistent in beating the other teams, then they will take a sizeable step towards fulfilling their dream

Again, we are talking about Juventus. They are a team who have shown when you bet against them and they are wounded, they rise up and remind you why they are the professionals they are.

Roma and Napoli have to be close to perfection in order to take the title away from the bianconeri.
