Roma have no chance of Serie A Title WITHOUT Salah

To win the very gruelling challenge that is a league campaign you need a really good team. You need to have a group of men who can come together for the common good and consistently deliver over the course of the season.

Sounds pretty obvious so far.

Beyond that though, just having good team isn't enough. A good team will get you in the position to win the title, but is not enough for you to actually win it. For that, you need that one truly special player that elevates you and pretty much wins you games. It's these players that are the difference between being top as opposed to coming second or third.





Roma have that player in Mohammed Salah, the Egyptian superstar and on the shortlist for African footballer of the year. He's a man who is finally realising his potential and has found a team in which he can flourish and show his action-packed characteristics that have made Roma worthy challengers to Juventus.

Spaletti must realise this fact and it can't be argued. In order for his team to have a real shot of prying the scudetto away from Juventus's very firm clutches, then he must have Salah.

He simply cannot do it without him. The boy is essential for Roma scoring goals, and is the one player that adds that extra dimension that makes it hard for other teams to deal with.


There are good players in the Roma team and I am happy to see Strootman back, and hopefully he can return to his technical best after a very long injury. But there is only one standout performer who makes Roma a true force.

With this latest injury which puts his Nations Cup participation in doubt, Roma are in serious trouble. They have to start looking round and seeing who is ready to take his place, because Juventus have their Dybala and Higuain. The only way to compete with that is to have your own weapon.

The other players in Roma are good, but not great, or have the ability to should the responsibility of the team and win those games. It's Salah that can do that, and the longer he is away, the harder it will be for Roma to find ways of unlocking defences.

There is only so much passing you can do before it becomes aimless and fruitless.

Salah is that weapon; the Egyptian with curly black hair. So the best witchdoctors better start getting to work to miraculously get Salah back to his feet and fast. 

Roma need him.
