Champions League: Juventus MUST Seek That ASS in Bout Against Lyon
Normally, the strategy for navigating Champions League groups is winning all your home games and getting a point against the stronger opposition away from home. That ought to see you at least make it through in second, to start preparing for the next phase.
Juve need to throw out that blueprint, and head into France looking for nothing other than a clear victory and the three points to take control of the group.
Juventus are looking good in the Serie A and more importantly, their wonderkid from Argentina got a brace and might have finally found his mojo for the season. For me, that's been the real key for success for Juventus this season. Of course, Higuain being his Napoli-self is important, but their creative jewel is Dybala and he is the most crucial piece.
On the other hand, Lyon lost to Nice who are looking good in Ligue 1, so there will be those seeds of doubt and pressure as they host a more superior team.
Allegri has to tell his men, to think of getting the win. This doesn't mean go for the all-out attack with every man, woman and child from the whistle. But it's about cotrolling the game in midfield, restricitng Lyon from having any sort of flow or connection between midfield and their strikers.
The key player will be Dybala, and the positions and spaces that he can find himself in which to launch attacks and create chance for Juve. Allegri should be brave, and encourage his players to push up when they see Lyon have given up space with the intention to try and get a G.
If Juventus score first, then this game is over. Juve can go and score another on the counter if Lyon try and push for the equaliser. This is a great chance for Juventus to keep that pressure on Sevilla, to make their showdown in Spain the fixture that should decide who wins the group.
And as good a side as Sevilla are, Juventus have no business coming in behind them. Juve are the deeper and more experienced squad, with some of the best players for their positions in the world. Finishing second always runs the risk of running into a team that can cause a lot of problems for you.
THEY MUST WIN.
